Throughout history, women have been conditioned to censor their bodies. The sexualization of women’s bodies and the pressure to conceal themselves as both a means of modesty and protection from sexual predators, has long been a topic of controversy. With society fetishizing girls at younger and younger ages, women are socially instructed to self-objectify and see themselves as sexual objects, unequal to their male counterparts. But these views are outdated and immoral. Society needs to take responsibility for their own sexualization of women and, rather than asking women to censor their bodies, the other party needs to censor their own opinions and sexual urges. By reversing this formerly traditional role, we can provide women with the same respect and freedom that has always been granted to men.
